First Visit

Visiting any new building and church can be daunting. To help you out, here are a few things to expect when you are visiting St. Catherine's Angilcan.

Getting to our service. 617 – 50th Street. Edson, AB T7E 1T8
Phone: (780) 723-3157
1) Our service time is 10:00am. People start arriving at around 9:40am. It is helpful if you arrive a bit early to find a seat and pick up a bulletin.
2) Parking is available on the street. Please enter through the large glass doors on the West side of the building.
3) Bathrooms are located immediately to the right as you enter through the door.
4) You'll find a place to hang your coat and pick up the service bulletin in the main entrance.

What to expect in our service.
1) Our worship services last approx. an hour.
2) We follow the BAS. This is the Green coloured prayer book found in the pew. This follows a basic ordo (pattern) of Gathering, Word, Meal, Sending. We gather with music, prayer and song. We hear God speak in bible readings and sermon. We celebrate Holy Communion together, and then we are sent back out into the world.
3) Where the bulletin refers to page, it means the little numbers on the bottom of page.
4) Where the bulletin refers to Hymn #, it means the blue book called "Common Praise." Other song books are used too, but you will be directed which ones to use at the time they are needed.
5) In the middle of the service is a time called "The passing of the peace. This is more than a time of hand shaking and saying hello, it is a time where we give each the assurance of the peace of God for each other, and know that we have a share in that peace.
6) We practice an open table for communion which means that all people are invited to come forward to receive the bread and the wine. It is after all the meal of forgiveness... intended to give us assurance of God's love and forgiveness to all people. Listen to the prayers and the invitation and if you are feeling like you would like to participate please come forward.
